Founded by Soile Stratkauskas, Victoria Baroque performed its debut concert on Palm Sunday April 17th 2011, a performance described as an ‘impressive debut,’ the group being ‘a major addition to the Victoria music scene’. (James Young – Music in Victoria) The ensemble was formed with the mission of bringing high-quality performances of Baroque music to the Victoria audience, using the abundance of local skill and talent. Victoria Baroque has since played seven full seasons at the Church of St John the Divine, Victoria, as well as been a guest ensemble for the series of the Early Music Society of the Islands, Early Music Vancouver, Cowichan Symphony Society, ArtSpring Presents, Victoria Conservatory of Music Oratorio Programme, and Denman Island concerts.
